It’s amazing how quickly you can fall in love with a child. Abby is just so sweet especially now that she smiles a lot more often. She’s making cooing noises and almost what seems like a laugh.

Last night she slept for 6 1/2 hours….it was like heaven especially since the night before she was up at least 4 times. I think she is beginning to recognize Paul and I. I can tell that she knows my voice. She also knows that when I hold her that I am also her milk source

We take Abby everywhere with us. For the 4th of July, we went downtown to the local parade in Westcliffe and then also looked at the carshow. Later than night, we went out to fireworks at the lake. Right when the fireworks started, Abby had a bit of a meltdown. It was after all a LONG day!

Whoever said being a full-time mom is easy is CRAZY!! Yesterday, I made curtains, managed to take a shower, and played with our new camera for Abby. In between, I fed, changed, rocked, and walked Abby. I find that I am NOT very efficient with tasks anymore. I can’t finish one without interruptions and then I must admit that I get sidetracked. Today, Abby had her 2 month appointment with the dreaded….shots. She was not happy. She did fall asleep while I was at Walmart and on the drive home but as soon as I got her out of her car seat, she started howling. This was definitely a new cry that I haven’t heard before – that of pain. A dear friend heard her screaming and came down to help me. We gave her tylenol and put warm washclothes over the shot spots. About an hour later, Abby and I took a nap. We woke to a bang! our neighbor’s little girl up above us had dropped a ceramic plate and cut herself. So I bandaged Mackenzie’s head and hand. Tonight, while Paul played with Abby, I made dinner, cleaned the living room and made chocolate chip cookies (yummy) but alas! no shower for me today

Recently Sarah, Sarah’s Mom, her sister (Debbie), Abby, and I took at drive to the Great Sand Dunes National Park. It is this amazing dune field in the middle of Colorado, right next to the mountains. Some of the tallest sand dunes in North America are found here. The photo gallery has some additional pictures of the dunes. If you ever get the chance, you should check them out!
