Sleep? Who needs it?

Sleep? Who needs it?

I am beginning to learn that sleep is really overrated . . . or at least that’s what my daughter would have us believe. It is amazing the amount of changes our lives have undergone in the past 2 weeks. We went from just the two of us to the three of us and our entire life now seems to revolve around the eating and sleeping schedule of Abigail (last night it seemed like every half hour). This is not news to “seasoned” parent, but this is expected from a brand new infant. Nevertheless, no matter how much I...

Baby Time

Well, Abigail has been born for a week and on Monday she will have been home for a week. Below is a video of a bath we gave her. She seems to really enjoy the baths. She particularly enjoys getting her head brushed.  Right now life is pretty simple.  Sarah and I get up,  feed Abby,  change her diapers,  take a nap when she’s napping (she has us up at all hours of the night and  . . . that’s about it.  She is such a joy and a blessing to us.  We are actually glad that she was...

Abby Update

Abby is doing very well this morning. Her breathing is not labored anymore and she is eating and pooping well! Sarah has been attempting to breastfeed, and Abby has been latching on and getting small amounts of her milk. As a result, we have been getting up every 4 hours and going down...

Contemplations on Parenthood

Becoming a parent is an exciting and joyous thing. . . it is also a scary thing. The realization that we are bringing another human being into the world bears an enormous responsibility. Sarah and I have been discussing our philosophy of parenting. What I think both of us realize is that it is easier to talk about and will be harder to do, but at least we are talking and planning. I mean let’s face it, we will most assuredly mess up somewhere along the way. We desire to do much to raise our children in the fear...

Glucose Tolerance Test

March 25, 2008
By

The glucose tolerance test sucks! I didn’t think I had to have it in the first place but then there I am being called in for it. They really have a way to convince young mothers “It is for your baby….you do want to be healthy for your baby, don’t you? Do you know what all could happen if you don’t take this test?, etc, etc”. So I up my carbs for three days per doctor’s orders. Then I fast for 12 hours before taking a super sugar drink. You have to wait three hours before you can go...
